A downloadable game

Built with Unreal Engine 5.7 and C++

Two prisoners wake up locked in facing cells. One key that opens nothing, a beam of light that reveals everything — if you dare to share it. Hollow Maze is a 2-player cooperative escape room where light is the only tool: it travels in straight lines, bounces off mirrors, and must reach sensors to unlock every door between you and the exit. No single player ever holds the whole picture — one arranges the light, the other manipulates the room itself.

How to Play

Escape the dungeon by solving the puzzle in every connected room. Solving a room opens the door to the next. Reach and solve the final room together to win — and get out.

Requires 2 players. One player hosts a session (Create Game), the other finds and joins it (Find Game). Works over the same Wi-Fi network out of the box; on different networks, connect both PCs to the same Radmin VPN first, then use Find Game as normal.

The Rooms

  • The Cells — wake up locked in facing cells, each holding a key that doesn't fit the lock. It opens a hidden mirror instead. Reflect the light onto the sensor to free your partner.
  • The Sequence Room — buttons, torches, and an order only one of you can see. Get it right to open the way forward.
  • The Rotating Room — one of you spins the room from the control panel outside; the other, trapped inside, chases the beam across mirrors that only line up once the room turns. Three targets, one beam, and a decoy mirror waiting to ruin your day.

What's in the Game

A first-person character built in C++ with Enhanced Input, fully replicated across a real online co-op session — movement, items, and every puzzle-relevant object stay in sync for both players. One reusable interaction system drives every interactable object in the dungeon: doors, buttons, mirrors, pickups.

The light beam is always visible and traces in real time — it bounces off tagged mirrors up to 15 times and stops the instant it reaches a sensor or a wall. Mirrors snap between preset angles on interact; rotating the room changes which mirrors are even in the beam's path. Three puzzles chain together, each one unlocking the next, and the third can only be solved by combining what both players do with the room's rotation and its mirrors.

A 9-slot inventory lets each player carry and equip items — including the lantern, which turns its holder into a mobile light source. A reactive narrator comments on how the session is going, its tone escalating the more the two of you struggle. Fall out of bounds and you're returned to your last checkpoint instead of losing progress.
